The tower that you saw was supposed to be the center (or town square) to a sub-division that some contractor wanted to start. He got as far as building the streets and the infamous tower before running out of money and eventually going bankrupt. After that happened, legened has that he went crazy and murdered his two childeren and his wife. The reason the tower is haunted is because after murdering his family he hung himself in it. There's also a haunted bridge out there to, he threw his wifes body under it before he hung himself. And thats the story of crazy man's.

When looking for information on this place, that I used to go to regularly as a teenager, I found a "ghost hunting" site. I sent them this email. Rather than re-type everything, I will instead give you a copy of that email here, and let you abridge it as you may. It's rather long...but here goes:::
Hello!
I found your site after searching the Internet for this old abandoned tower. My friends and I used to go out to the tower on a fairly regular basis when I was in high school out there starting just over 10 years ago. We were always looking for a good scare, and that place never failed to disappoint - but I'll get to that later. All kinds of ***really*** freaky stuff happened to us there that I saw with my own eyes. We were just out there again tonight (over 10 years later and still looking for a scare...), and I was looking for photos and other people's experiences, which brought me to your site.
First though, a bit about the history of the place, and what it is. One thing I did notice on your site, was that the story you had been given for the tower's history is somewhat mixed up with the story of another structure out there. The tower itself was never part of a house. I guess it was about 1992 when the portion of the structure with the pillars burned down, but before that, it had a vaulted roof over the pillars and a couple of benches -- it was a pavilion. When you passed the gates into the area, you might have noticed driveways on the sides of the road, though they may have been totally obscured by weeds and debris. The whole area there was set to be an upscale housing development, but was never finished. The tower was to be the centerpiece of the community, overlooking the largest of the man-made ponds that were dug. Most of the water pumping apparatus still remains in the pond, and it looks like they had started to install a fountain in the center, though the pipes are all overgrown with algae. My guess is that the gurgling noise that occasionally comes from the pond (we heard it, too) is air getting trapped in the machinery.
Though the damage to the sides of the tower suggest a place for a staircase, there never was one. At one point there was a straight steel ladder (affixed into the brick similar to a fire escape) that ran up the side of the tower nearest the pavilion. It looked original, put there for either construction or maintenance purposes. Before vandals had done too much damage, it was actually possible to climb the ladder and sit inside the top of the tower on a wooden platform/floor, and look out the openings in the top. We never really knew what the 4 openings in the top of the tower were for, but given the positioning of them, and the nature of the structure, it seemed only natural that they were there for clocks -- a clock tower in the center of the community. As such, we always referred to that location as "clock tower."
Now, just on the outskirts of the development, but not inside it proper, was a house that had been burned to the ground. I think this is the house you had been told about, as it was always rumored to have belonged to a crazy man who killed his children and then burned his house down around himself. Coincidentally enough, this was always called.....you guessed it, "crazy man's house."
I don't know how verifiable this particular bit of rumor about the crazy man is, however. It was also rumored that he was the man responsible for the development. In my opinion, the bit about the man falls squarely into urban legend.
As far as why the development was abandoned......years later, as an undergrad at UNT in Denton, I took a course specializing in the geology of the North Texas area. Our professor told us of a planned housing development that had been started in the late 80's near Alliance Airport (which is across I-35 from Roanoke, site of the tower), and had been scrapped because of poor planning. Seems it had been built on an unstable shale formation that swelled and shrank with rainfall. Apparently, roads and foundations began to crack even before they were finished. Now, he didn't say specifically where this was, or give any more information, but it seems very plausible that this is the same development.
Now, on to the good stuff....
I don't know about ghosts, per se....but I can 100% vouch for weird cult activity transpiring at the site. For whatever reason, occultists felt drawn to it, be it the remote location or the gothic look. I'm talking about really spooky stuff, too....not the usual pentagrams and "Megadeth Rulez" graffiti. Here are just a few things that happened to us on our many late-night trips out there::
1) FIRST TRIP
On our first trip out there, strange things were already happening. As we pulled into the development past the gate, there was all sorts of debris in the road. Couches, recliners, mattresses, trash...all sorts of stuff. Our car headlights shone on an overweight naked man with a large beard laying in the recliner, apparently moon-bathing. He slowly got up, looked at us rather indignantly, and walked off into the darkness with his dog in tow...still naked.
When we got to the tower, we all got out of the car, and a few of us climbed up the ladder into the tower and sat for a while. We joked around, and played. I stepped on a nail, and it went through the sole of my Converse and into my foot. I needed a bandage, so we were starting to leave.
As we were leaving, we see another car in the distance. (at night out there, you can see cars coming from a *long* way away) By the time we were in the car, this other car is right on us. They slowly pass us and look at us, then do a u-turn.
We proceeded to haul ass out of there, and they followed us closely all the way back to 377.
2) SECOND TRIP
Not much really happened our second trip, as we didn't stop the car. As we came to the tower, we saw three burning crosses on the hill across the street.
3) FOURTH OR FIFTH TRIP
A few trips later, after the chase, the crosses, and a couple of uneventful trips, we were back out there again, all out of the car. By this time, the weird cult or satanic graffiti on the pond-side wall of the tower was getting *really* strange. Not like pentagrams and stuff, but weird symbols and writing that looked to be in another language. You know - you saw it, probably when you were there. By this point, the pavilion had also been burned down. All that remained of it was some charred earth, some burnt timbers and the stone columns.
This time, when we were out there, a police officer came out to us and talked to us.
He told us that, technically, the land was private property and we were trespassing, and that on those grounds, he was telling us to leave or face charges. He then paused for a second and looked uncomfortable. Then, he told us that as a father of kids our age, he was asking us to leave for our own safety and his peace of mind. He said there were bad things out there, and that just a week before, they had found a burned car with a body inside on the premises. He also mentioned finding a skinned and dismembered goat, candles burning, and other strange things on various nights, and that the place gave him the creeps. He again pleaded (not at all in cop-voice) for us to leave and never come back, and then he left. ...and so did we.
4) A FEW TRIPS LATER
Did the cop's admonitions and pleas keep us from going to the tower? Hell, no. We wanted to be scared. We went several more times with the occasional small incident or oddity, but eventually we had what would be our final night visit for a long time.
This particular night, we were all out of the car and walking around the tower. By this point, a lot of damage had been done to the tower by vandals. As we're joking around, we see headlights in the distance. Remembering the cop and the prior car-chase, we instinctively pack it into the car and start to leave.
As we're leaving, we notice that we have lost sight of the other car's headlights. We breathe a collective sigh of relief and feel comforted that it must have just been a car passing on the main road just outside the development. Then we notice two dark-colored SUV's sitting nose-to-nose, crossways in the street...blocking our exit.
I don't know if you noticed this on your trip out there, but you know how you had to go in the gates? Well, that's the main road through the development, and it's the only road that connects with the main roads outside. The two ends of that road are effectively the only ways into (or out of) the development.
Instantly upon seeing our exit blocked, we fishtail and race for the other exit. About 3/4 of the way there, we notice a dark SUV pulling up beside us, offroad, and kicking up a mighty dust cloud. I'm not sure if this was a third vehicle, or if it was one of the two blocking the prior exit, but there it was nonetheless. As we approach the other exit, we notice one car already there waiting for us. It looked like a late model Cadillac or Oldsmobile...some sort of beat up old land yacht sitting sideways on one side of the road. The SUV was racing to get ahead of us and seal our exit, but we barely beat it...and narrowly escaped. Two cars chased us through the city of Keller and to Davis blvd in North Richland Hills before turning away.
That night stuck with us, and scared us quite a bit. I can understand people wanting to run us out from the development, but wanting to keep us in??? What were they planning on doing to us when they caught us?
5) DAYTIME VIST (and last for a few years)
After that chase, we realized the strategic flaw in knowing only the one main road and the D-shaped loop that exits from the main road at the tower and leads back to the gate. My friend Brandon and I decided to go out there during the daytime to explore some of the other roads. What we found made our hair stand on end.
There were no other real roads to speak of...at least none that went anywhere. There were just lots and lots of cul-de-sacs. Not just ordinary cul-de-sacs, though...these had islands in the middle of them, I suppose for topiaries and shrubs and the like, but the net result was that it was sort of a closed circle that you had to drive around. We explored 5 or 6 of these, and in the back of each circle (so that you couldn't see it when you entered the circle) was a roadblock. These were crudely made out of bricks, branches, and debris, but it would have been impossible for a car to go over or around.
These cul-de-sacs were set up as car traps, dead ends...
What if we had taken a gamble and gone down one of these one night while being chased? Creepy, to say the least. Somebody had put a lot of thought into ways to catch panicked "intruders."
That was the last time I went out there for several years.
So, back to the present. We went out there tonight, on Halloween to scare ourselves. Some of my friends have heard my old stories about this place, and thought them rather far-fetched. I decided to lead them out there so that they could see it for themselves, and since I had heard rumors that it would be torn down, soon.
When we got there, the gates had heavy locks on them, so there would be no way down to the tower without getting out of the car and walking. I sure as hell wasn't about to do that, given past experiences there, so we moved on, disappointed.
On the way home back to Denton, we were driving down 377 through Roanoke and got pulled over for speeding. When the police officer asked us where we were coming from, my friend Jesse (who was driving) was honest and politely told the officer that we had attempted to go to the clock tower to get a good Halloween scare, but the gate was locked and we couldn't get in.
I couldn't have asked for better corroboration of my stories to my friends....the cop blanched a bit. "What do you want to go out there for? There's nothing good out there." He told us that in the early 90's, the place had seen an unbelievable amount of satanic activity. He said they would find weird stuff out there, and that they even found several bodies out there. He said it had been about 4 or 5 years since he had seen anything down there personally, but he still wouldn't consider it safe, and it was a good thing we didn't try to get past the gates.
He also told us that most of the structure had recently burned down, and only a few timbers and a bit of the steel substructure remain.
I guess the patrons of the tower wanted to give it a proper farewell before its demolition.
Anyway...that's what has happened to me on the several times I've been out there. If you ahve any more info about that place, or photos of it, please let me know where I can find them. That whole area is slated to be developed, and I want to preserve the memories as best I can.

we heard about the "crazy man thing" going on so we went there too. first i went with some friends in the daytime. the gate to the development (the tower location), was locked and thats normal cause its tresspassing. but to the left side of the lock, the two bars, were shaking a lot and it wasnt even windy! i didnt believe in this junk until i saw that. it made me wonder. so later on that night we went and the funny thing was that the bolt was cut and the gate was cracked. anybody could have done that but i was still curious. so we drove through and we didnt think it was the same tower. so we had a printout from another website on it which i will tell u the website name at the end of this letter. we looked at the pic, then shined the light at the tower and it is the same one! but right now the tower is rusty and torn apart on the sides. metal bars stick up to hold it. so we were like hey it is the same one, and drove past the little road by it and i swear i saw a rusted burnt car beside the tower! i told my brothers friend to shine the light at it but they didnt cause no one cares about what i say. and when we were getting ready to leave, we see headlights coming from the entry gate. we were like oh crap. we had no where to go cause the opposite side was locked so we had to get caught basically. so we drive and act normal and were passing the tower and that rusted car i thought i saw- was gone. i swear to u. it creeps me out! so when we come head on to the vehicle that came in he blocks us so we stop. its an old man and he says were in big trouble for trespassing. and were like were sorry we didnt know and the guy actually let us off the hook! so we go and leave but he locked the entry gate so i guess that we couldnt escape. we stop and he unlocks it and we leave. but the stupid guy was trying to follow us! we got away and i havent been there since. the website is: http://www.sgha.net/crazymans.html
