THE SARATOGA "BRAGG" LIGHT Called by some of the newer generation as simply "Saratoga Road". I grew up less than 30 miles from the original site of the OLD BRAGG HOTEL , and for over 40 years have been a regular visitor to the site . I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED. The ORIGINAL hotspot for the hauntings was not the dirt road where most of the younger generation now goes but rather a pipeline that crosses the road and the area that was so popular in my day is no longer accessible by vehicle. My most memorable experience was in the spring of 1965. myself, my fiance ,and our 2 best friends went one friday night ,late after the drive in closed. not really SEEKING the light but bored and just driving around, we ended up there. It was dark , no moon at all , ,we got out of the car and were just kind of talking ,making plans for the next weekend and we walked around in front of the car and sat down on the grass. suddenly I FELT someone or something watching me. I was embarrassed to say any thing for fear of being called chicken. I turned quietly and touched my fiances arm to ask if we could go. when i spoke his name everyone turned to look at me . when they did they unanimously began to scream and scramble away from me , screaming for me to run and pointing behind me with a look of total horror on their faces .!i turned and there, not 3 feet from me was a ball of light .!The size of a basket ball, just hovering there like it was waiting for something . I couldnt move. I was frozen in terror. It just sat watching for a moment. then began to slowly drift away , staying about 6 feet above the ground. I finally got my feet to move and started around the car to get in and there it was on the other side of the car between me and the door. i tried to run to the other side , it WAS THERE.,again between me and the door .Then suddenly it was gone as though it had never been there . i managed to get into the car and by this time my brave friends were coming out from behind the trees and we started to leave. we hadnt gone very far and there was the light again ! right beside the drivers side door just staying right beside us. when my friend who was driving speeded up , the light fell far behind then suddenly when we were almost to the main road , there it was on the hood of the car!.Somehow this time we all looked at each other and WE WERENT AFRAID ANYMORE . IT WAS AS THO WE COULD FEEL THE LIGHT TELLING US IT DIDNT MEAN ANY HARM THAT IT WAS ONLY TEASING US . !!!Then suddenly the light was gone.Later we all agreed that we had the very same feeling ,as tho he thing were COMMUNICATING with us. Since that time i have had literally hundreds of experiences with the phenomena and each and every one has been unique and utterly thrilling in its own way.I am seriously considering writing a book based on my experiences with the light alone!It has inspired me to become totally fascinated with the subject . A word of warning!! in my 40 years plus of visiting the light I have never seen it become violent or harm any one WITHOUT PROVOCATION seeming to be more of a PLAYFUL entiy HOWEVER there have been more than one occasion when someone became aggressive or threatening toward the light that it DID react in an aggressive manner. I personally have seen the light shatter the windshield of a car causing someone to be cut about the face and arms with broken glass. I have been there when the light caused such a feeling of FEAR insde the car that the driver ran into a tree trying to get away and gave himself a concussion . By all means , GO VISIT THE LIGHT , play with it have fun, but DONT be threatening or disrespectful.It may do nothing this time, biding its patience but it WONT FORGET and when you least expect it . Well, lets just say that when that happens , you will probably have your own story to submit to this site
